Doctoring Course Policy
In order to ensure continuity, MD-PhD students are required to stay in their Doctoring group until the completion of Doctoring II. This means that you will need to attend approximately four sessions after you have exited the clerkships in June of the second year. Two of these will be while studying for the boards or while conducting the first month of a lab rotation, and two will take place after the start of the graduate school semester. If you have a time conflict because of a graduate school course, contact your preceptor and/or Lynn Seng (sengl@mail.med ) to make arrangements to make up the sessions, or explore the possibility of changing the meeting time. (If it's a small enough graduate school course, it may also be possible to move the meeting time for it.)
A new longitudinal patient program is being put into place for the coming year (04-05). MD-PhD students will have the option of continuing in the program in the spring of the third year and the fall of the fourth year, as you would have if you were an MD-only student. You also have the option of discontinuing participation to focus more fully on graduate school and/or to allow more time for participation in Clinical Connections in the fall of the fourth year.
