New Staff Orientation
About
The orientation is designed to provide resources and support to help you make a smooth and efficient transition into the School of Medicine. Our objectives are that upon completion of the program you will:
- feel welcome
- understand the School of Medicine's past, mission, and vision for the future
- understand the School of Medicine's organizational and reporting structure
- be able to identify relevant functional departments contacts and numbers
- be able to identify the resources that are available to support you as a School of Medicine employee
It is expected that all new employees and transfers to the School of Medicine will participate in the orientation as soon after their start date as possible.

Registration
To register for New Staff Orientation on-line (You must have a PennKey and password to enroll on-line):
- View a 38-second demonstration of how to find and register for classes
- Log in to Knowledge Link
- Click Optional button
- Find course titled New Staff Orientation SOM, choose the date you wish to attend and click on Enroll

Departmental Orientation Checklists
Supervisors and mentors can download these checklists and customize them for use in their department to help them orient new staff or temporary staff.
Announcements
If you are new, you should soon be receiving an invitation sent to your home. If you do not receive one within your first 2 months here, call us at 215-573-0682 or e-mail oe@mail.med.upenn.edu
