Time management talk by "last lecture" professor Randy pausch

Time Management - by Dr. Randy Pausch (for Penn Faculty, Staff and Postdoctoral Fellows) (completing this module will give you credit in your training record)

Time Management - by Dr. Randy Pausch (Public Version)

History of this Time Management Resource

The Last Lecture was an inspiring, witty, and poignant talk given by Carnegie Mellon University Professor Randy Pausch after he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. It was covered by the Wall Street Journal, went viral on the internet, and led to a New York Times bestseller and multiple television appearances by Dr. Pausch before he passed away.

What many do not know, however, is that Dr. Pausch gave another lecture after his “last” lecture – a time management talk at the University of Virginia (at the request of friend and UVa professor Dr. Gabriel Robins). Like “The Last Lecture,” it is funny and moving, but is also full of very practical time management tips specifically aimed at the university community.

Dr. Pausch generously wrote “I'd like for the information in this talk to be freely available for anyone who might benefit,” making the lecture video and slides available for anyone to use under certain restrictions.

In the spirit of Dr. Pausch’s wishes, the Perelman School of Medicine’s Office of Organization Effectiveness packaged the video and slides as an online learning program for the University community and the public. Organization Effectiveness then sent the finished product to Dr. Robins for his approval, and to offer it for public use in the same spirit of collegiality with which Dr. Pausch had shared it. Dr. Robins immediately added it to Dr. Pausch's web archives and replied:

Great job in re-packaging Randy's Time Management talk: Randy would have loved seeing it. Randy told me he wished folks can easily see all of his slides side-by-side with his video, and now they can, so that's wonderful!
