Welcome to Ahn Lab
Our research team investigates bone formation, resorption, and healing using genetic, molecular, cellular, and animal models. We integrate cutting-edge cell and molecular biological techniques to investigate the fundamental molecular pathways of Notch and Wnt as they apply to bone resorption and regeneration. Our goals are both to understand the biology and to apply it for positive phenotypic effect. We are also interested in the investigation of molecular enhancement of bone formation/healing and outcomes of orthopaedic trauma/fracture treatment.
Our research program is associated with the McKay Orthopaedic Research Laboratories at the University of Pennsylvania and with the Translational Musculoskeletal Research Center at the Philadelphia Veterans Affairs Medial Center. Our lab is part of a joint collaboration within the Translational Musculoskeletal Research Center, a group of investigative surgeons, biologists and engineers at the Philadelphia Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Specific information about our ongoing work can be found by visiting the Ongoing Research page.
