USING THE KONICA SRX-101A MEDICAL FILM PROCESSOR

The film processor is available only for orthopaedic research use. All users must sign up prior to using the system. The sign-up sheet is located on the x-ray room door (room 412 B) and is on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you have not used this system before, please consult with Jose Luis Charvet (3-3660, room 412 A) first for training. He will guide you on your first run. Once checked out by Jose, you may be allowed to use the processor alone but are required to adhere to the guidelines below.

Film processing:
1. Make sure wash water, fixer and developer drainage valves are close.
2. Open the water supply valve.
3. Plug-in the processor's power cord. Turn the power breaker on. The run lamp should turn on.
4. Press run button. Wait until the READY lamp lights up. This will take about 20 minutes.

Inserting cleaning film:
1. Clean track rollers and guides by inserting 2 or 3 sheets of cleaning film.
2. Open feed tray cover and insert film, one at a time, always lining up the film edge either to the right or left guide on the feed tray.

Inserting exposed film:
1. Make sure READY lamp is ON.
2. Change to safelight conditions.
3. Open the feed tray cover.
4. Insert the exposed film one sheet at a time, always lining up the film edge to either right or left guide located on the feed tray.
5. For single-emulsion films, insert face down. This means that the notch will be in the lower left hand corner.
6. When small films (8 x 10" or less), two sheets may be fed at the same time. Align one to the left hand guide and the other on the right hand guide. Make sure they do not overlap.
7. When done, turn on the lights and turn off the safelight.

Shutting down the processor:
1. Press the RUN button.
2. Open the water drainage valve, leaving the developer and fixer drainage valves closed.
3. Open the feed tray cover to prevent condensation inside the main unit.
4. Wait 5 minutes before turning the power breaker off. Temperature in the drying section is kept high during operation. By waiting a few minutes before turning off, the processor will be maintained in a stable quality.
5. Unplug the power cord.

Clean-up:
1. Please wipe-off any fluid that leaks from the processor.

* If these instructions are not followed or the equipment and facility are not left in ideal conditions, use will be discontinued.
