Areas of Special Interest: Sylvia's research interests revolve around the injury and repair of dense connective tissues, especially the mechanisms by which cell and extracellular matrix aging affect healing and how biomaterials can modulate the wound microenvironment to promote a regenerative response. As a veterinary student, Sylvia is also interested in developing translational animal models.
Outside of lab, Sylvia can be found indulging in the simple pleasures of hiking and backpacking. Other personal interests include photography, adventurous eating, and traveling on a dime.
