AREAS OF SPECIAL INTEREST
Mara joined the Mauck lab after 2 years of orthopaedic residency at Penn. Prior to arriving here, she performed undergraduate research in biomechanics under Dr. Savio Woo at the University of Pittsburgh, and clinical research in hip arthroscopy during medical school under Dr. Marc Philippon at the Steadman-Hawkins Research Foundation in Vail, CO. Mara plans to pursue a career in pediatric orthopaedics, with an emphasis on hip joint preservation. Outside of the hospital, Mara enjoys skiing, road biking, travel, and cooking. She has a remote history of a competitive taekwondo career (and has been known to kick around a few undergrads here in the lab…) and may try her hands at an Ironman competition sometime soon.
