AREAS OF SPECIAL INTERESTS
Matt joined the group as a post-doctoral researcher in January 2011 after receiving his Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh at the Musculoskeletal Research Center under the direction of Dr. Savio L-Y. Woo. Matt’s research is focused on tissue engineering of the injured knee meniscus and articular cartilage. A particular focus is the development of appropriate animal models to evaluate the performance of tissue engineered constructs in-vivo as a first step toward their clinical translation. Matt is a Pittsburgh native, and thus, is a fan of the Steelers, Penguins, and alas, Pirates. He also enjoys the occasional round of golf, traveling with his wife, and competitive games of all varieties.
