Ryan H. Nakasone

Undergraduate Student in Bioengineering
University of Pennsylvania

HOMETOWN
Honolulu, HI

EDUCATION
Candidate for BSE in Bioengineering, 2012, University of Pennsylvania

AREAS OF SPECIAL INTEREST
Ryan joined the lab as an undergraduate lab assistant in September 2010. Under the guidance of Tristan Driscoll, a Ph.D. student, he’s currently investigating the effects of mechanical loading on the development and physical properties of mesenchymal stem cell seeded electrospun scaffolds. He has also aided in research concerned with the effects of fiber alignment on the shear and biaxial mechanical properties of engineered fibrocartilage tissues. Stuck on the cold east coast, Ryan has become addicted to snowboarding. However, when he is lucky enough to be back home, he enjoys surfing and taking advantage of everything the beautiful beaches of Hawaii have to offer.
