Spence joined the McKay Orthopaedic Research Laboratory in the fall of 2003. He is the recipient of a National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship and a Penn Bioengineering Leadership Fellowship. Prior to coming to Penn, he conducted research at the Musculoskeletal Research Laboratories at the University of Utah. In his spare time, Spence likes to read, play the piano, watch college football and hang out with his wife Kathy, daughter Addiley and son Benjamin.
