Research Opportunities
Research is vital to the advancement of knowledge, techniques, and patient outcomes in orthopaedic surgery. Regardless of your background or class year, there are opportunities to work on research projects that will help you gain additional exposure to the field.
Here are some guidelines to help you decide what sort of project is right for you:
- Choose one or more sub-specialties that interest you (Sports, Joint Replacement, Hand, Shoulder & Elbow, Spine, Trauma, Oncology, Neuro-orthopaedics, Foot & Ankle, Pediatrics)
- Consider the type of project you would prefer (basic science/laboratory versus clinical)
- Evaluate your schedule: will you be able to commit a regular block of time or do you need flexibility?
- Evaluate your skills: do you have familiarity with software used for scientific writing (EndNote, RefWorks) or statistical analysis (Excel, SAS, SPSS, Stata)?
- Contact Andrew Milby with the above information in order to find a suitable project
