Overview and Background

On May 11, 2011, the University of Pennsylvania received a $225 million gift – the largest single gift in its history – from philanthropist Raymond G. Perelman and his wife, Ruth, to benefit Penn's world-renowned School of Medicine. It created a permanent endowment for the school.

As a result, as of June 2011, the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine was officially renamed the Raymond and Ruth Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Note that the name Penn Medicine remains the overarching brand representing the tri-fold missions of education, research, and clinical care.

The purpose of this website is to provide guidance on Perelman School of Medicine (PSOM) name use, logos, branding guidelines, and the standards and requirements around website development at the PSOM.
