Perelman School Renaming Information

In June 2011, the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine was renamed as the Raymond and Ruth Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. This name does not replace Penn Medicine, which remains the overarching brand representing the tri-fold missions of education, research, and clinical care.

Overview and Background

On May 11, 2011, the University of Pennsylvania received a $225 million gift – the largest single gift in its history – from philanthropist Raymond G. Perelman and his wife, Ruth, to benefit Penn's world-renowned School of Medicine. It will create a permanent endowment for the school, which has been renamed the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. [see full press release]

This site was established to provide guidance on the appropriate steps to take to update official electronic and printed materials to reflect the school's new name and logo.
