The University of Pennsylvania Postdoctoral Insurance Plan Open Enrollment is fast approaching. The Open Enrollment period will begin on November16th and run through November 27th . During that time, Postdoctoral Scholars may make changes to their current enrollment that would be effective as of January 1st,2010.

There will be a benefit plan change this year. The Aetna medical HMO plan is being discontinued as of December 31st, 2009 and being replaced with a comprehensive Point of Service Plan as of January 1st, 2010. Detailed information pertaining to this change will be provided at the campus meetings.

Available changes during Open Enrollment are:

Enroll yourself and/or eligible dependents for whom coverage was previously waived
Postdoc enrolls in plans which were previously waived
Switch from the HMO to a PPOplan for either medical and/or dental
Switch from the PPO to the DMO for dental, and to medical POS in certain circumstances

Meetings will be held on campus on November18th & 19th .Although there are no changes to the benefit rates, representatives from Garnett-Powers & Associates willreview all of the benefit plans offered, administrative processes, as well as the wellness benefits available. Please review the attached announcement piece for further information regarding the meeting.

The Garnett-Powers plan web site has been updated with open enrollment information. November 16th marks the date Postdocs may actually visit the Open Enrollment Form to make any changes to their current enrollment status.
