Horizon House
For over a decade, the Department of Psychiatry has collaborated with Horizon House on the development, implementation, and evaluation of mental health services and research projects. The Center for Mental Health Policy and Services Research in the Department of Psychiatry has been integral in developing and nurturing this partnership with Horizon House.
According to the Horizon House annual report, this collaborative partnership with the Department of Psychiatry has "enabled Horizon House to apply new knowledge to the agency's integrated continuum of services and to measure the effectiveness of its interventions."
In addition to the ongoing research collaboration between the department and Horizon House, the agency also serves a vital role in department's education programs. Training and supervision area provided at Horizon House to third-year psychiatry residents from Penn. The Horizon House medical director and outpatients services staff psychiatrist have faculty appointments in the department and both are active in teaching medical students and residents at Penn.
