Faculty Participation in Patient Advocacy Groups

Patient advocacy groups are strong proponents of parity in mental health coverage (which the Department supports), recognize the need for expanded and more effective mental health clinical programs (such as the Department’s flagship clinical services), and support increased community-based mental health services (such as the Department’s community-oriented services provided to the residents of West, South, and Central Philadelphia).

Department faculty are involved with numerous regional and national patient advocacy groups. This commitment to patients and their families and friends represents a powerful partnership to maximize a positive voice to foster education, research, and clinical care programs in the mental health field.
