Mental Health Association of Southeastern Pennsylvania

Overview

The Mental Health Association of Southeastern Pennsylvania (MHASP) is one of the largest affiliates of Mental Health America (formerly the National Mental Health Association).  MHASP provides services to adults and children with mental illnesses and their families and engages in advocacy to increase funding, access, and quality of services.  They are a national leader in the delivery of consumer (e.g., peer-to-peer) services, and are the parent organization for the National Mental Health Consumers' Self-Help Clearinghouse that provides training, consultation, and disseminates information about consumer-run programs.

Department of Psychiatry faculty from the Center for Mental Health Policy and Services Research have collaborated with MHASP for many years on studies of their innovative programs and the development of new mental health programs and initiatives.  The partnership has generated significant new research and program funding and has increased opportunities for cutting edge, locally and nationally relevant policy- and services-oriented research.
