Clinical Neuroscience Training
The Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania developed the Clinical Neuroscience Training program (CNST) to enhance medical students’ exposure to the neurosciences while pursuing studies for the Doctor of Medicine degree. The CNST is aimed at training clinical neuroscientists who will eventually participate on the forefront of academic practice and research.
The CNST curriculum consists of interdisciplinary clinical case conferences, mentoring, research opportunities, and specially designed clinical neuroscience seminars. To accomplish these goals, the program draws on intellectual resources in the Clinical Neuroscience Departments, Anesthesiology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology and Psychiatry, as well as neuroscience-oriented subspecialties in other departments, such as Neuropathology and Neuroradiology.
The CNST is open to all medical students at the University of Pennsylvania who have interest in pursuing a career in the clinical neurosciences. Graduate students are welcome at all CNST events to foster greater interactions among basic and clinical scientists early in their careers.
