Funding Opportunities that Limit Applications / Scholars Awards

The Office of Research Program Development (RPD) coordinates the selection process for grant competitions in instances where a foundation limits or invites only a select number of applications from the School of Medicine (SOM) or the University. A SOM faculty committee selects the candidate(s) best suited to each particular award and those candidates in turn submit applications to the sponsoring foundation. In cases where candidates may also be suggested by other schools within the University, the committee forwards a SOM candidate to the Office of the Vice Provost for Research at the University, who in turn, makes the final determination of who, from Penn, will be nominated.

These foundations address a variety of subject areas; however, they are predominantly aimed at researchers who are early career investigators. For additional information about the limed application process, please contact Stephanie Oram at 215-368-0495 or oram@mail.med.upenn.edu.

The foundations listed below contain a link to each organization’s website; the list of participating foundations is subject to change.
