Community Outreach
The Center for Resuscitation Science runs a number of programs geared towards spreading Cardiac Arrest and CPR knowledge to the public. They range from CPR education events to Conferences for medical professionals.
CPR Anytime
CPR Anytime is a video-based, self-instructional, CPR training course offered by the American Heart Association. The low-cost kit uncludes an inflatable manikin and a 22 minute instructional video. It is an up and coming alternative to traditional CPR classes, for those who do not require or have time for the full certification. We are also working on video-only refresher course methods - for a sample of our video, please click here.
Currently at the Center for Resuscitation Science, we offer a hospital based
program in the Penn Health
System that targets the families of patients admitted
for cardiac-related illness. (click here to access our brochure) Potential exists to provide this service in other situations, including out-patient populations, or mass public training events. For example, in 2009 we helped run an event at the Philadelphia City Hall where numerous Philadelphia City employees received CPR Anytime training.
Hypothermia and Resuscitation Training Institute at Penn (HART)
The Center for Resuscitation Science hosts a 2-day workshop called the Hypothermia and Resuscitation Training Institute at Penn (HART). The goal is to provide medical professionals with the skills to confidently implement therapeutic hypothermia at their home institutions.

Education/Outreach
We also support community-wide initiatives like Heart Safe Philadelphia, which combines members from the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Philadelphia EMS, police and fire departments, school districts, and other groups to improve heart health education for community members.
