| Procedures: | This study is to evaluate whether acupuncture will improve pain and sleep quality in patients with fibromyalgia. Each subject will have an overnight sleep study, fill out questionnaires, and keep a sleep diary. If the initial sleep study shows a sleep disorder the patient will be asked to start acupuncture treatment. Each acupuncture session will last 30 - 40 minutes. Acupuncture needles are much thinner than needles used for drawing blood and are much less painful on insertion than injection or blood drawing needles. There will be one acupuncture session per week for 8 weeks. Following the 8 sessions of acupuncture treatment, the overnight sleep study and daytime questionnaires will be repeated. |
