Penn Rhinology Lab

Home

Welcome to the Rhinology Lab at the University of Pennsylvania Department of Otorhinolaryngology. We are in the midst of several exciting projects, and we hope to continue to carry on the legacy of Rhinology here at Penn.

Our lab's mission is:

  • To elucidate the normal physiology of the upper respiratory epithelium with a focus on mucociliary clearance and other innate immune pathways
  • To investigate the immunologic and physiologic changes in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis and other common upper airway pathologies
  • To study the patterns of microbial infection and the epithelial changes in response to infection
  • To create opportunities to translate our research into treatment options for patients suffering from otorhinolaryngologic diseases
