Requirements

Applicants must have taken high school chemistry and meet the economic criteria described at the American Chemical Society Project SEED website.

Application and Selection

At the University of Pennsylvania we select students from Philadelphia School District high schools that are within close proximity to the University of Pennsylvania.  Currently the high schools we select from are Benjamin Franklin, Robert Lamberton, Overbrook, South Philadelphia, Strawberry Mansion, and West Philadelphia.

Entry into the program is competitive and consists of two steps:

Step One - Nomination of the student by a science teacher, and completion of a written application and essay by the student. 

Step Two - An on-campus interview with the student and his or her parent or guardian.

Typically three students are selected to receive fellowships in a given year.
