Setting up Apple Mail Using for OSX 10.7

If you do not know your local email password please set it now

Configuring Your Apple Mail.

Launch Apple Mail and Enter your Identity into the 'Welcome to Mail' Setup.

When you open Apple Mail the Welcome to Mail setup wizard automatically appears if there are no other existing accounts or this is the first time you have opened Mail.

Enter your name as you would like it to appear when you send email to others. Enter your preferred contact email address. This is the address people will reply to and add to their address books when they receive email from you. Enter your PennKey password into the Password field. When you're done, select 'Continue.' You will receive an error message that the exchange server could not be found just select to Continue.

Choose your Account Type and Setup your Incoming Mail Server Settings

We recommend that you select IMAP for your Account Type. Enter a description for your account such as “Mail.Med” into the Description field. Set your incoming server to “mail.med.upenn.edu. Enter your PennKey name and the local password you created into the User Name and Password fields respectively. Click Continue.

You need to insure that the check box for Use Secure Sockets Layer  is checked, and that the Authentication type is Password, and then Click Continue.

Configuring the Outgoing Mail Server.

Enter a description for your outgoing server such as “mail.med” into the Description field. Set your outgoing server to mail.med.upenn.edu. Check the boxes labeled 'Use only this server' and 'Use Authentication.' Enter your PennKey name and  the local password you created into the User Name and Password fields respectively. Click Continue.

You need to insure that the check box for Use Secure Sockets Layer  is checked, and that the Authentication type is Password,  and click Continue.

Verify your Account Settings and Create Account

Verify all the information on the Account Summary window, check the box labeled 'Take account online,' and select 'Create.'
