Zimbra users are reporting an increase in spear-phishing attempts. Penn computer administrators will NEVER ask you for your password at any time via any medium. For more information about phishing, please see the following link.
On Sunday, June 7, 2009 the Zimbra email service will be unavailable beginning at 2:00am until 8:00am as the software is upgraded. Any mail sent during this outage will be queued and delivered once Zimbra is available again.
Ongoing issues with the UPHS network are slowing or preventing access to certain Penn services such as Kerberos, mail.med email, and BEN Reports. SOM IS is working with UPHS to make them aware of these continuing issues so that they may be resolved.
Adobe has acknowledged a critical un-patched vulnerability in Adobe Reader versions 9.0 and earlier that can lead to machine compromise. Until a patch is available, SOM affiliates are advised to turn off Javascript from within Adobe Reader. Instructions for doing so are found at the following link.

Pennkey Information

A PennKey and it’s associated password are required to access many of Penn’s network resources.

To create or reset a PennKey, you need a PennKey setup code. How you obtain your PennKey setup code depends on your University Affiliation and status:

Faculty and Staff include:

Faculty or staff with an active affiliation with the School of Medicine in Penn payroll
Faculty or staff with an active affiliation with the Health System UPHS payroll
Emeritus faculty with an active affiliation with the School of Medicine in Penn payroll

Guest of the School of Medicine include:

Research collaborators employed outside the University (including former faculty and staff)
Temporary staff members not included in Penn payroll
Visiting scholars, faculty, and students

Guests of the Health System include:

Contractors, Outsourced Resources, Temporary Staff
Non-University of Pennsylvania students working at UPHS
Visiting Physicians

In some cases guests may be able to reset their PennKey without visiting a PennKey administration location in-person. If the guest's home address was entered into the system when the PennKey was created the guest is eligible to use the Setup Code request line.

Guests are also eligible to obtain a PennKey Setup Code using the Challenge-Response system. Previous registration is required to use Challenge-Response.
