About Space Planning & Operations…
Mission:
To provide services enhancing and enabling the education and research missions of the School of Medicine.
Space Planning & Operations is responsible for:
- The operations of buildings on the School of Medicine campus,
a total of 1.8 million square feet of floor area. - Master Planning, space allocation, and capital project liaison.
- Support services including special events planning and scheduling,
audio/visual services, mail distribution, infectious waste removal, and alcohol distribution. - Off campus space coordination.
- Space data inventory and management.
- Parking and transportation matters for the School of Medicine.
- Safety and Security.
Space Planning & Operations is organized according to six functions:
- Facilities Planning and Space Management | 898-2876
Space allocation, needs assessment, floor plan layout, preliminary cost estimates, construction coordination, furniture selection, space inventory, off-campus space, etc.

Operations and Engineering | 898-8000
Emergencies, utilities, maintenance, and housekeeping liaison/troubleshooting.
Moves, signs, and coordination of customer work requests. -
Management and Support Services | 898-2876
Special events and scheduling, Distribution Services including infectious (bio-hazardous) waste removal and alcohol distribution. -
