NOTICE:Stemmler Hall Construction: STEMMLER HALL, EDWARD J.

Service(s) Affected: None

Notice Date: 12/16/2014

Building(s) Affected:

Stemmler Hall, Edward J.(Stemmler)
Whole Building Affected: YES

Advisory:
In preparation for the upcoming Stemmler Hall building and infrastructure renovations, the construction team has been opening some of the building walls to allow for the engineering teams to investigate and fully understand the location, routing, and condition of piping, ductwork, conduits and other infrastructure. There are approximately 40 locations throughout the building that must be opened so that this exploration and testing can occur. Most of these openings have been in public areas, since the shafts and chases can be accessed from the corridor. In the event that there is an interior location, the team will be contacting the occupants to arrange for access and to schedule the work. It is our intent to limit the disruption to all of the occupants in the building as much as possible, all the while maintaining cleanliness and controlling dust. To that end, the team is using hand tools to open drywall rather than power tools, (to minimize noise and vibration), the crew size is limited to two people, and they are keeping a vacuum very close to the penetrations in order to catch any and all debris. As soon as the piping is testing and the other exploration is complete, the walls will be repaired and repainted.
