The mission of the Penn Med Standardized Patient (SP) Program is to deliver high-quality SP programming to train and test learners at various stages in their medical education.
Using a creative and collaborative approach to program development, the Penn Med SP Program fosters a partnership with faculty and learners to integrate innovative humanistic training with traditional science-based medical education.
With this premise at its heart, the Penn Med SP Program:
- Offers learners a safe, controlled environment where they can develop and refine their own unique approach to patient care with honest and nonjudgmental feedback from a diverse group of SPs.
- Administers reliable, valid examinations using conscientiously trained SPs and rigorous quality assurance to grade learners on their progress and/or prepare them for licensing exams.
- Aims to cultivate our resources, develop our programming, and keep Penn Med at the forefront of the rapidly growing field of clinical skills education.
