Obstetrics and Gynecology is a challenging specialty. The field combines medicine and surgery while offering the many happy outcomes of obstetrics and exposure to pediatric, adolescent and primary care. There are many sub-specialties in which residents can pursue fellowship training including Maternal-Fetal Medicine (high-risk obstetrics), Gynecologic Oncology, Pelvic surgery/Urogynecology, and Reproductive Endocrinology/Infertility. Opportunities also exist in adolescent gynecology, family planning, epidemiology, and reproductive genetics.
