Personal Background

I was raised in California and graduated from U.C Davis. I came to Philadelphia in 1987 for MD/PhD training and developed roots that have kept me here. I trained in Neurology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and in Neurogenetics with Kurt Fischbeck at the NINDS. In 2003, I returned to join the Neurology faculty at Penn and start my research lab.
