Welcome to the Penn Association for the Surgery of Trauma (PAST) at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.

PAST was established in the Fall of 2007 as a means to promote medical student interest in the field of Trauma and Surgical Critical Care through organizing clinical skills workshops and lectures, promoting trauma-related research, providing local and international Trauma Care experiences, and arranging networking & social opportunities with the faculty of Penn’s Division of Trauma and Surgical Critical Care.

The Hospital of the University of Pennsylania is home to a world-renowned Level 1 Trauma Center serving the population of West Philadelphia locally, as well as the Greater Philadelphia and Lehigh Valley areas via PennSTAR fleet of medical rescue helicopters. It is our hope that by utilizing this tremendous medical resource and by collaborating with the Division’s outstanding faculty members and housestaff, we will serve as a useful tool for students to develop their interest in the field of Trauma and Surgical Critical Care.
