Ray Carvajal, M.A.
Ray Carvajal, M.A., is a clinician at the Center for Weight and Eating Disorders at University of Pennsylvania. In addition, he works in collaboration with the Behavioral Health Center at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He received his B.S. in Education, along with his professional teaching certificate, from Villanova University, and his M.A. in Clinical-Counseling Psychology from La Salle University.
Mr. Carvajal's research and clinical interests include the cognitive-behavioral treatment of obesity and body image disturbance, as well as the surgical treatment of obesity. He provides services to adolescents and adults within the context of clinical research, including Look AHEAD, a NIH-sponsored study on the effects of weight loss on type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease, and LEAP, a NIH-sponsored study on the effects of behavioral therapy on adolescent obesity.
In addition, Mr. Carvajal conducts psychological evaluations on patients who elect bariatric surgery through the University of Pennsylvania Health System.
