LaShanda R. Jones-Corneille, Ph.D.
LaShanda R. Jones-Corneille, Ph.D., is an instructor and clinician in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania. She received her B.A. in psychology from San Diego State University and her M.S. and Ph.D. in counseling psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University.
Dr. Jones-Corneille’s research interests include ethnic differences in risk factors for chronic diseases such as diabetes, cancer and cardiovascular disease. Her population of interest has been adolescents and she has focused on risk factors such as smoking, fat intake, weight, and body image. She has recently focused her research efforts on the treatment of obesity in adult populations. Currently, Dr. Jones-Corneille is co-investigator of a study examining the impact of binge eating disorder on weight loss in bariatric surgery patients and patients enrolled in a behavioral weight loss program.
Dr. Jones-Corneille clinical interests have focused on smoking cessation and obesity prevention/treatment via cognitive behavioral approaches. Her clinical experience has primarily involved the treatment of mood/anxiety disorders, stress management, smoking cessation, and weight management.
