Louise Hesson, MSN, CRNP
Louise A. Hesson, M.S.N., C.R.N.P., C.D.E. is a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner in the area of Adult Health in the Primary Care Setting. She has worked in the field of obesity research at the University of Pennsylvania Center for Weight and Eating Disorders since 2000. At the center she is the Director of Industry Trials where she coordinates pharmaceutical company and industry sponsored research studies. In 2011, Ms. Hesson obtained an additional position at the Albert J. Stunkard Weight Management Program, where she oversees the medical care of the patients attending weight loss sessions.
Ms. Hesson provides medical support for many NIH funded studies as well. Her responsibilities include performing history and physical exams, adjusting medication as needed, reviewing laboratory and diagnostic testing results and providing medical guidance. In addition, for the safety of the patient, she supervises sub-maximal exercise testing.
Of special interest to Ms. Hesson is providing education and guidance to those people diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Ms. Hesson is certified as a Diabetes Educator and enjoys the opportunity in her clinical practice to work closely with people suffering from this disease.
