John received his Ph.D. in 1966 from the University of Maryland where he was recipient of a N.A.S.A. He continued this research at The Jackson Labora-tory in Bar Harbor, Maine and subsequently at The Oak Ridge Na-tional Laboratory, Tennessee.
When the focus of his work began to concentrate in cancer therapy and carcinogenesis, he joined the Cancer Center at the University of New Mexico under Director Dr. Morton Kligerman. He left New Mexico, returning to his east coast roots and joining the University of Pennsylvania.
