Medical College Admission Test (MCAT)
Each applicant must take the Medical College Admission Test within three years of applying to the Perelman School of Medicine. All candidates for admission in the fall of 2024 are required to have taken the MCAT between January 2020 and September 2023.
Interviews are granted by invitation only and occur between September and January. One-on-one interviews with faculty and students take place on select dates identified by the Office of Admissions. MD/PhD interviews are scheduled by graduate group in conjunction with medical school interviews. Only students who have been interviewed are considered for admission into the entering class. The School of Medicine has a single admission date in March for both programs. The Committee on Admissions uses a holistic review process in assessing applicants for interview and selection. Criteria include personal attributes, life experiences, overcoming obstacles and academic strength.
Applicants Attending Foreign Institutions
All applicants who receive degrees from foreign institutions are required to complete one year of course work in the sciences at a college or university in the United States before applying for admission. Non-residents of the United States are ineligible for federal or school financial aid programs.
Applicants applying from accredited Canadian institutions are exempt from the required additional year of science study and may apply directly.
Early Decision Program
Perelman has a small, selective Early Decision Program. Successful EDP candidates should meet the mean GPA and MCAT scores of the entering class.
Candidates who wish to be considered for EDP should consult with the Office of Admissions prior to June 1 of the cycle in which they wish to be considered; CV/Resume, undergraduate transcript, and MCAT score report must be provided for consideration. All approved EDP applications must be submitted to AMCAS by August 1 and must be complete with our office by August 16 (adjusted as the deadline cannot fall on Sunday, and must include: verified AMCAS application, supplemental application, fee payment, and letters of recommendation).
There is no transfer admissions program at the School of Medicine.
