Module 1: Core Principles

August, Year 1 — December, Year 1, morning sessions

  • Basic science and clinical medicine curriculum emphasize core concepts
  • Emphasis on body structure in anatomy interfaced with radiology, diagnostics, ultrasound, and physical exam findings
  • Learning takes place in small group sessions and team activities
  • Elective seminars offered in global health, community services, medical Spanish, and bioethics
  • Three afternoons unscheduled — Students have time and the flexibility of using three afternoons a week in any way that fits their interests, such as working at one of the School's community clinics, attending classes outside of medicine, pursuing independent research, playing sports, continuing hobbies, or relaxation
  • Grading is Pass/Fail
