Young Investigator Spotlight Application

We encourage applications by early career, independent Principal Investigators to be considered for a Young Investigator Spotlight (YIS) presentation. The basic requirements are that applicants are 2-7 years into an independent faculty position. For additional information, go to

YIS applicants should submit a title and an abstract for their proposed 25 min. talk through the abstract submission interface. At the final step, rather than upload a PDF of your abstract, upload a single PDF document containing your CV and a 1pg cover letter briefly describing your research interests, and contact information for at least one reference. YIS applicants may still be listed as the presenting author on a separate scientific abstract.Details: Candidate selection will favor young investigators who are not direct trainees of or do not come from the same institution as the senior keynote speaker for APAN. In 2020, the keynote address will be given by Dr. Israel Nelken (Hebrew U.).

Application for the Young Investigator Spotlight DOES NOT preclude submission of a regular abstract to APAN detailing the more specific nature of the research results, and for which the student or postdoc conducting the work may still be considered for a travel award. However, if the young investigator is chosen for the Spotlight, such regular abstracts would not also be chosen for oral presentation.
