Description of Clinical Expertise

Dr. Braunstein is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. He received his medical doctorate from New York University, completed his residency and a fellowship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Braunstein was the Chief of the Diabetes Program at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania from 1975 - 2002. He has a large clinical diabetes practice and his interests include treatment of complications related to diabetes, treatment of diabetes in pregnancy and young adults, and intensive treatment programs including insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring. His current research is focused on new treatment strategies for complications of diabetes.

Dr. Braunstein is a national and international speaker on diabetes and diabetes complications and their treatment. He has been recognized in Philadelphia Magazine's "Top Docs" for 20 years. He was recognized by America's Top Doctors in 2007 and 2008.
