Description of Clinical Expertise

Kirk Wangensteen, MD/PhD specializes in Gastroenterology and Hepatology and his clinical expertise includes genetic diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, pancreas, and liver.

Description of Research Expertise

Kirk Wangensteen, MD/PhD's research expertise includes liver biology and genetics. In particular, he is mapping the genetic pathways that enable liver regeneration and cause liver cancer. He has set up innovative in vivo screening systems to elucidate these pathways in a mouse model of liver injury and repopulation.
