Pattern recognition and machine learning: kernel methods, clustering, supervised/unsuppervised deep learning, extreme learning machine.
Video/image processing: thermal image analysis, hyperspectral imagery, medical image analysis, computer aided diagnosis/prognosis (e.g. breast cancer, dentistry, heart, lung cancer), satellite imagery (e.g. very high resolution remote sensing), human action/activity recognition (computational neural mechanisms for recognition of biological movements).
