RESEARCH AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Research Description

Dr. Bohdana Discher focuses on the biophysics of molecular self-assembly of natural membranes with the goal to develop functional membrane alternatives. As a postdoctoral fellow she has developed new synthetic membranes from amphiphilic diblock copolymers that have tunable thickness and stability. Currently she carries out a research on amphiphilic maquettes for deciphering membrane protein association, reproducing functional elements of biological energy transduction, and development of functional mimics of natural membrane components that can be used for fabrication of novel advanced nanodevices.
