BIO STATEMENT

Nguyen Thi Tuyet, MD, PhD, is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, Vinmec International Hospital, and the College of Health Sciences, VinUniversity, Hanoi, Vietnam. She currently serves as the Designated Institutional Official (DIO) for graduate medical education (GME) at VinUni, where she oversees current residency programs and leads the development of new residency and fellowship training programs aligned with Vinmec's needs and international standards. In this role, she chairs and leads the Graduate Medical Education Committee, supports institutional compliance with ACGME/ACGME-I requirements, and contributes to strategic planning, clinical learning environment improvement, faculty development, and quality assurance across graduate medical education.

Dr. Nguyen’s scholarly and professional interests in global health are grounded in health professions education, health system strengthening, and workforce development. She views global health not only as the delivery of care across borders, but also as the development of sustainable institutional capacity to prepare competent, socially accountable physicians for diverse and rapidly changing health systems.

Dr. Nguyen received her medical degree from Pham Ngoc Thach Medical University, completed residency training in Internal Medicine at Nhan Dan 115 Hospital, earned a Master of Health Administration from Yonsei University Graduate School of Public Health, and obtained a PhD in Medical Sciences from Yonsei University Wonju College of Medicine. She has further completed advanced training in health professions education through the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education.

Her long-term global health objective is to contribute to the development of a high-quality, equitable, and internationally connected physician workforce in Vietnam. Through leadership in GME, faculty development, research, and national health workforce initiatives, Dr. Nguyen seeks to advance sustainable models of medical education that improve physician competence, institutional capacity, patient safety, and health system performance.

RECENT GLOBAL HEALTH PROJECTS

1. The most recent project is to join ACP Global Physician Scholar (GPS) Program in 2026 where I was exposed to clinical experiences in cardiology as well as expose to translational research in the field. In this project, I was shadowed under Professor Marguilies. research project “Molecular Mechanisms of Microvascular Rarefaction in Cardiovascular–Kidney–Metabolic Syndrome: A Scoping Review to Inform Hypothesis Generation in Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction”. This project is aim to answer the question “What molecular mechanisms have been reported to contribute to microvascular rarefaction in cardiovascular–kidney–metabolic syndrome, and how can this evidence inform a mechanistic hypothesis for microvascular rarefaction in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction?”. For this project we aim to have the manuscript done in June, 2026.

2. The second project is related to initiative with Ministry of Health. I am working on how to improve the training in postgraduate medical education including training model, sustainable finance model for GME, equity in training and placement after graduation.
