BIO STATEMENT

Raffaele Macri, MD, MPH is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Penn Medicine. He works both in the Emergency Department and the ED Observation Unit at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
He completed a combined residency of Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine at Jefferson Health Northeast in Philadelphia. His global experience started when he was a Peace Corps health volunteer in Madagascar for 3 years; working with local communities in hygiene, nutrition, fetal and maternal health and vaccinations. He worked closely with USAID and the President's Malaria Initiative. This expanded to global health outreach trips to Peru, El Salvador, Uganda and Italy during his residency program. His interest includes health education, literacy, access and vaccination distribution.

Recent Global Health Projects

Botswana-UPenn Partnership 5/2026 - educated and facilitated residents and medical officers at the University of Botswana with Point-Of-Care Ultrasound and cared for patients in the ED while overseeing residents.

Participated in TJUH Erasmus+ Student Exchange Program in Rome, Italy at the Universita Cattolica del Sacre Cuore. Involved in research (9/2024 - 11/2024)
