BIO STATEMENT
Ryan Greysen, MD, MHS, MA is a Professor and Chief of the Division of Hospital Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. He has dedicated a significant part of his career to global health workforce development and medical education across three continents.
Dr. Greysen's global work began during residency training, when he spent several months in Togo, West Africa, helping to establish a community clinic for HIV care. He went on to serve as core faculty in the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Sub-Saharan Medical School Study, a major initiative examining medical education across the African continent. More recently, he has served as Visiting Professor at VinUniversity in Hanoi, Vietnam, through the Vingroup-Penn Alliance, bringing Penn Medicine's educational expertise to the training of the next generation of Vietnamese physicians.
Dr. Greysen is currently working to establish a Global Health Fellowship within Penn's Department of Medicine, which will offer recent graduates of Internal Medicine residency programs structured, immersive training in global health systems and practice. His research has been published in JAMA, JAMA Internal Medicine, and the Annals of Internal Medicine, and covered by the New York Times, Washington Post, and NPR.
