Kathryn (Kat) Smith currently serves as the Program Coordinator for the University of Pennsylvania’s Center for Global Health (CGH) in the Perelman School of Medicine. Prior to joining the CGH team, Kat served as the Interim Assistant Director for Service Learning at the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) at Penn, where she managed various local and international service learning programs for undergraduate students. She looks forward to applying the skills and knowledge that she gained in her former role at SEAS to support the students and programs at the Center for Global Health.
Kat also holds an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership with a concentration in Higher Education from Temple University and a BA in International Economics and Spanish from Georgia State University. Kat is passionate about international grassroots development as well as creating enriching cross-cultural experiences for students and young professionals.
Kat loves to travel and to immerse herself in different cultures. She has studied abroad in Spain and has interned in Brazil, but (by far) her most cherished international adventure has been her service in a rural village of Panama as a Peace Corps Volunteer from 2008 until 2010.
