The Department of Pediatrics is fully committed to its training programs.
The categorical pediatric residency program at CHOP continues to be one of the most competitive in the United States and was ranked number one in the country by US News and World Report. Fully approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), our residency program currently trains 148 interns and residents. After completion of the three-year program, many continue their subspecialty training with us. Our subspecialty fellowship programs currently train 179 subspecialty fellows.
We also offer a 4-year integrated Pediatrics/Genetics program (in conjunction with the Department of Genetics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine) leading to board eligibility in both disciplines.
The Department of Pediatrics at CHOP and the Department of Medicine at HUP jointly sponsor the Med/Peds program. This 4-year program, established in 2004, provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient training in the two rigorous and complementary environments.
The Division of Neurology offers a three-year residency in Pediatric Child Neurology. Most trainees choose to enter our five-year Neurology/Pediatrics Combined Residency Program, which begins with two years of pediatrics training. The residency meets the training requirements established by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
