We are pleased to announce Soyfa Osharovich as the 14th Sridhar Charagundla Lecture presenter.   Sofya grew up in the Philadelphia area and attended West Chester University where she majored in biology.  After graduating with her B.S., she took a job at Pharmaceutical Product Development, LLC, an international Contract Research Organization, where she worked with a team of scientists on clinical trials for the 4 and 9-valent Gardasil vaccines.  Ultimately, her work led to the FDA approval of the 9-valent Gardasil vaccine.

After two years in the pharmaceutical industry, Sofya matriculated into the Pharmacology Graduate Group at Penn. Under the tutelage of her mentor, Dr. Jim Delikatny, Sofya’s Ph.D. project involves characterizing a novel tumor-targeting near-infrared dye, JAS239, in lung cancer models and translating it into the veterinary clinic for fluorescence-guided surgery in dogs with spontaneous lung tumors. In the future, Sofya is interested in pursuing a career in the pharmaceutical industry, specifically, in clinical translation.
