Patient Care

A brain tumor diagnosis is life-changing, and finding the right team matters. At the Penn Brain Tumor Center, you are cared for by a team of physicians and other health professionals who have dedicated their careers to brain tumors — specialists in neurosurgery, neuro-oncology, and radiation oncology with specific expertise in neuro-oncology. When receiving your brain tumor care at Penn, you can feel confident that your team will work closely together with your best possible outcome in mind. We strive for excellence not only in diagnosis and treatment, but also in clear and frequent communication, family and caregiver support, and helping our patients navigate the many challenges of living with a brain tumor.

The Penn Brain Tumor Center offers a wide range of therapies, combining the most advanced treatments with cutting edge clinical trials. Our neurosurgeons use state-of-the-art intraoperative technologies — including real-time imaging, cortical mapping, and awake craniotomies — to remove as much tumor as possible while protecting healthy brain function. In radiation oncology, we offer proton therapy, which delivers precise, targeted treatment with less exposure to surrounding tissue than conventional techniques. And when routine treatments aren’t enough, we offer an array of clinical trials that are unique to Penn, including our promising CAR T cell therapy program for glioblastoma. Our goal is to make sure every patient has access to the full range of options that may be right for them.
