Understanding Giant Cell Arteritis (GCA) and Your Eyes
This patient handout, short educational video, and self-assessment were developed by researchers and clinicians at the University of Pennsylvania in collaboration with patients living with GCA. The materials provide practical guidance on recognizing visual symptoms related to GCA, knowing when to seek urgent care, and navigating common eye concerns. They are freely available for educational and non-commercial use. A special thank you to Aiden Adams who spearheaded this effort as a medical student at Penn.
-Patient Handout: a one-page educational sheet on the warning signs of vision loss caused by GCA.
-Patient Self-Assessment: 10 multiple choice questions to reinforce your understanding of visual symptoms related or unrelated to GCA and appropriate actions to take. We recommend reviewing the handout and video prior to answering the questions.
