macOS Updates for PMACS Devices
Due to the ever increasing threat landscape and for the benefit of the end user, PMACS network, and Penn Medicine and University data security and privacy, PMACS is increasing its minimum macOS requirements. PMACS will support the most recent release of macOS and the 2 previous releases (N-2).
Currently supported versions of macOS (as of 06/28/2024)
- macOS 12 - Monterey
- macOS 13 - Ventura
- macOS 14 - Sonoma
To identify your current macOS version, navigate to the Apple menu (top left of your screen) > 'About This Mac'.
How to update from an older version of macOS
If you are on a version of macOS older than OS 12 Monterey, you will be prompted to update your device to maintain PMACS support. Please follow the below steps depending on your current version:
- 10.13 High Sierra: Apple Menu > App Store > Updates
- 10.14 Mojave, 10.15 Catalina, 11 Big Sur, 12 Monterey: Apple Menu > System Preferences > Software Update
- 13 Ventura, 14 Sonoma: Apple menu > System Settings > General > Software Update

If you are unable to upgrade to at least macOS 12 Monterey, your hardware is out of date and requires replacement. Please submit a PMACS ticket for assistance with determining specifications and quote generation.
